February 10, 2022, marks 185 years since the death of A. Pushkin. On the occasion of the Memorial Day, the St. Petersburg Opera will hold an online lecture and show the opera Eugene Onegin by P. Tchaikovsky.
The St. Petersburg Opera together with the National Pushkin Museum will arrange a live broadcast dedicated to the Pushkin Memorial Day. What caused the last duel of genius? Where and how did it go? What do we know about the last hours of the poet’s life? What happened to his widow and children? These and other questions will be answered by the general manager of the museum Sergei Nekrasov. In addition, during the broadcast, the historian will share interesting facts about the legendary novel Eugene Onegin, which formed the basis of the opera of the same name by P.Tchaikovsky. The broadcast will take place on February 9 in the official community of the St. Petersburg Opera VKontakte at 15:00 Moscow time:

The opera Eugene Onegin will be shown on February 10, at 19:00. The performance staged by People’s Artist of Russia Yuri Alexandrov allows take a fresh look at familiar events. Actors moved into the atmosphere of the Chekhov era, turning into intelligent “summer residents” of the late 19th century.
