The troupe of the St. Petersburg Opera is distinguished by its youth. These are not only graduates of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, but also talents from all over Russia. Most of them are nominees and laureates of all-Russian and international competitions, selected carefully and meticulously. In the theatre it is considered good form to say that there are no "stars" here, there is an acting and singing ensemble. Alexandrov himself is not afraid to lose performers, saying that the transition of singers to world-famous theatres is a natural and encouraging phenomenon. The departed will be replaced by others, even better, of which it will be no less interesting to sculpt real artists.

“My actors must accept the principles that I profess. It was vital for me to organize my own theatre. I wanted to create that model of artistic life that is productive. This theatre is my laboratory, where I test my thoughts, work out my staging techniques. This is a studio where young actors get a profession and where they are instilled with a special culture of behavior, appearance, they are taught to always be worthy of the title of an artist, not only on stage, but also in life," says Yuri Alexandrov.
