Dear viewers! We are glad to announce that from January 11, children under 16 years old accompanied by adults are allowed to attend performances of our theatre, subject to the age recommendations indicated in the playbill.
We invite you to the children's operas by Cesar Cui in 2021! Already on January 16 at 12.00 and 15.00 "Little Red Riding Hood" will be shown to the audience, and on January 23 at 12.00 and 15.00 - "Puss in Boots".
Caesar Cui is the creator of the classic children's opera in Russia. His "The Snow Bogatyr", "Little Red Riding Hood", "Ivanushka the Fool" and "Puss in Boots" were very popular at the beginning of the 20th century, although they were not staged on the professional stage. After the death of the author, all these works were forgotten for many years. Today we can safely say that it is in vain.
In December 2017, the tale of the most famous Cat, staged by People's Artist Yuri Alexandrov, returned to the St. Petersburg stage. The performance has received a new orchestration and a vivid stage design with modern video art. Laconic and not fatiguing even for the smallest spectators, the performance included, along with vocal numbers, dance scenes performed by the theater soloists and the choir. It turned out that Cui's work can inspire not only children, but also adults. The charm of Charles Perrault's fairy tale, music full of tenderness, wit and French grace - all this in the play "Puss in Boots".
The opera "Little Red Riding Hood", dedicated to Tsarevich Alexei Romanov, was written in 1911. It has never been staged at professional theatres. And this is surprising, because the “children's” niche in the repertoire of St. Petersburg classical theaters is not rich in sonorous names.
