On November 02, 2020, the theatre performed for the first time in Turkey on the stage of Ozay Gonlum Hall of Denizli - Nihat Zaybekchi Congress and Cultural Center in Denizli. Despite many difficulties, a gala concert of soloists and orchestra of the St. Petersburg Opera took place. Arias and duets from the most popular operas by Russian and foreign composers were performed: P. Tchaikovsky, N. Rimsky-Korsakov, R. Shchedrin, A. Alyabyev, G. Verdi, G. Donizetti, C. Gounod, R. Leoncavallo and others. The concert was conducted by Alexander Goikhman.
Each trip is hard work for the whole team but at the same time, it is always exciting to discover new destinations. During a tour in Turkey, the theatre staff was given the opportunity to visit Pamukkale, well known as the 8th wonder of the world.
Pamukkale is a unique natural site in southwestern Turkey, created by mountain thermal springs. The beauty of this place impresses even the most sophisticated traveler! Many years ago, water saturated with calcium came to the surface of the earth and created a miracle of nature - a polar-white cascade of terraced pools with a total height of almost 200 meters. Dazzling white travertine terraces were created on the side of the mountain as a result of salt deposition from calcium-saturated springs.
Not far from the "Cotton Castle", as Pamukkale is also called, there are the ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis. The necropolis, amphitheater and temple of Apollo are the main preserved ruins of the city.
We would like to thank Mr. Samet Baser, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Director of Tourism and Publicity for organizing the trip. We are grateful to the transfer company, which provided comfortable buses for the whole team of the theatre within our stay in Turkey.
