On October 28, at the Bryantsev Youth Theatre, the 25th Golden Sofit Award ceremony was held. Soloist of the theatre St. Petersburg Opera Karolina Shapovalova became a laureate in the nomination "Best Actress in an Operetta and Musical" for her role as Countess Stasi in the production of Yuri Alexandrov's operetta by E.Kalmán "Die Csárdásfürstin".
In the diverse repertoire of the St. Petersburg Opera, along with Verdi and Puccini's opera dramas and masterpieces of Russian classical music, operetta as a genre takes significant part in the playbill of the theatre. Yuri Alexandrov turns to this genre quite often since “nowaday’s life needs happy endings”. In addition, an operetta requires perfect opera voices, and the St. Petersburg Opera Theatre has long been famous for this.
It should be noted that Karolina Shapovalova receives the Golden Sofit Award for the second time. In 2017, she received an award for the role of Serpoletta in the operetta of R. Planquette's “Les Cloches de Corneville” фтв was recognized by the jury as the best female role in the operetta and musical.
Congratulations to Karolina Shapovalova and the entire team of the theatre under the leadership of Yuri Alexandrov!
