From St. Petersburg to Belgrade. May tour of the theatre St. Petersburg Opera
At the beginning of May, the troupe of the St. Petersburg Opera Theatre goes on tour to Serbia to perform on the two leading stages of Belgrade at the National Theatre and at Madlenianum Opera & Theatre.
The tour will take place within the framework of the 150th anniversary of the National Theatre in Belgrade and the 20th anniversary of the Madlenianum Opera & Theatre.
This is not the first visit of the theatre to the Serbian capital. In 2017, The St. Petersburg Opera presented to the audience in Belgrade a Russian opera of the twentieth century: 'Not Only Love' by Rodion Shchedrin and ‘Betrothal in a Monastery’ by Sergei Prokofiev.
This time the troupe will perform with the French program. These are 'Les pêcheurs de perles' by Georges Bizet (the play will take place on 8th of May at the National Theatre in Belgrade) and 'Faust' by Charles Gounod (on 10th of at Madlenianum). Both performances staged by the artistic director of the theatre, People’s Artist of Russia Yuri Alexandrov. These two operas were awarded with the highest theatrical award of St. Petersburg Golden Sofit.
Laureates of international competitions Evgenia Kravchenko, Tatiana Kalchenko, Larisa Pominova, Natalia Vorobyova, Sergey Aleschenko, Vladislav Mazankin, Alexey Pashiev, Vladimir Celebrovsky, Anton Morozov, Yury Borschiv will perform in the plays. The conductor is Maxim Valkov.
