III INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER OPERA FESTIVAL

From October 3 to October 17, 2018 The State Chamber Musical Theatre “St. Petersburg Chamber Opera” present the III International Chamber Opera Festival.

The very first Festival of Chamber Opera that was held in spring of 2016 on the scene of “St. Petersburg Chamber Opera” has initially become significant cultural international event. There are no such music forums being held in Russia. Additionally, this festival has given a great opportunity for local people and guests of the city of Saint Petersburg to get acquainted with inimitable masterpieces of Opera classics and chamber collectives that never before performed in the Northern Capital of Russia. Well-known music theatres such as “Helikon Opera” and Moscow Chamber Musical Theatre performed in the Festival, as well as international vocalists from National Estonian Opera, Warsaw Chamber Opera, Collegium Musicum Riga and many other collectives took part in the event.

III International Chamber Opera Festival will greet artists from Hamburg Chamber Opera (Germany), The Moscow State Opera and Ballet Theatre for Young Audience, Szcsecin Chamber Opera “Opera na Zamku w Szcsecin”. New performances will be presented by “Helikon Opera” from Moscow and Warsaw Chamber Opera. By tradition, the theatre “Saint Petersburg Opera” will open and close the Festival on their stage.

The International Chamber Opera Festival is held by the St. Petersburg State Chamber Music Theatre "St. Petersburg Opera" and the Foundation for Cultural Initiatives "St. Petersburg Opera". The artistic director of the festival is People's Artist of the Russian Federation Yury Alexandrov. The festival is supported by the Government of Saint Petersburg and the Committee for Culture.
