Alexander Goikhman was born in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. He graduated from the faculty of folk instruments, button accordion of the Krasnoyarsk State University (class of professor S.F. Nayko). He is also an alumnus of Opera and Symphony faculty M.I.Glinka Novosibirsk State Conservatory (doctorate in the class of professor A.M.Katz) 

From 1995 until 1997 was a prompter and conductor's assistant in Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre 
In 1997-1998 was carrying out the military service and he was a member of a brass band 
From 1998 until 2000 was a conductor in Novosibirsk Theatre of Musical Comedy 
In 2000-2001 was a conductor of the symphony orchestra at Barnaul Philharmonic 
From 2001-2006 was a conductor in Novosibirsk Theatre of Musical Comedy
In 2006-2008 was a conductor in the Perm Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre 
Since 2008 Alexander Goikhman is a conductor in the State Chamber Music Theatre ‘St.Petersburg Opera’ 
Since 2017 is a Guest Conductor in Chelyabinsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Glinka
