The leading soloists of the St. Petersburg Opera present a concert of opera arias performed to the accompaniment of harp and fantasies on themes from famous operas.
The concert is named after final lines of A. Pushkin’s poem “The Gypsies” – “And fateful passions are found everywhere and there is no defence against fate.”
If there is a composer who can make anyone fall in love with opera, then this is undoubtedly Donizetti – the idol of those who cherish the romantic style bel canto ("beautiful singing").
The St. Petersburg Opera Theatre was created by director Yuri Alexandrov in 1987, when the society needed new creative ideas. Despite all the difficulties of the perestroika period, the Theatre, conceived as a creative laboratory, immediately took a prominent place in the musical and theatrical Petersburg, gaining a reputation as a "live opera Theatre", "search Theatre".
The Theatre was formed as a single creative organism with a unique repertoire program. Its range covers musical works created in different genres and in different countries over many centuries.
Over time, the Theatre has grown into a professional State Chamber Musical Theatre "Saint Petersburg Opera", well known both in Russia and far beyond its borders.
In 1998, the Theatre acquired its own stage, the mansion of Baron von Derviz (Galernaya, 33), whose history is closely connected with the musical and theatrical history of St. Petersburg, became it.
Since the day of its foundation, the artistic director of the Theatre has been People's Artist of Russia Yuri Alexandrov.
