Golden Sofit Award 2021


At the A. Bryantsev Youth Theatre, the 27th ceremony of the highest theatrical award of St. Petersburg Golden Sofit took place on November 1st, 2021. 


The highest theatrical award of St. Petersburg "Golden Sofit has been awarded since 1995 at the beginning of a new theatrical season. The winners are determined by secret ballot by the nomination council of the award, the organizing committee, the management bureau of the St. Petersburg branch of the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation, expert councils. 

Two soloists of the St. Petersburg Opera became laureates of the Award for the season 2020-2021:
  • Natalya Vorobyova in the nomination ‘Best Female Role in an Opera Performance’ for her role in the play I Know of no Other Such Country… based on the works of V. Gavrilin and D. Shostakovich.
  • Gevorg Grigoryan in the nomination ‘Best Male Role in an Opera Performance’ for the role of Orestes in the opera Elektra by R. Strauss. 

In total, the St. Petersburg Opera was presented in the following nominations: 
  • ‘The Best Performance in the Opera House’: Elektra by R. Strauss and I Know of no Other Such Country… based on the works of V. Gavrilin and D. Shostakovich.
  • ‘Best Female Role in an Opera Performance’: Tatiana Kalchenko for the role of Elektra in the opera Elektra by R. Strauss and Natalya Vorobyova for the role in the play I Know of no Other Such Country… based on the works of V. Gavrilin and D. Shostakovich.
  • ‘Best Male Role in an Opera Performance’: Gevorg Grigoryan for the role of Orestes in the opera Elektra by R. Strauss. 

The St. Petersburg Opera congratulates all the nominees and winners, and also thanks the nomination council for the award, the organizing committee, the board of directors of the St. Petersburg branch of the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation, expert councils for the high assessment of the theatre.
