23 Days until Victory
As part of the “23 Days until Victory” festival, the St. Petersburg Opera will present to the public a concert entitled Songs of the War Years, which will take place on May 9.
To celebrate the anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the Army Theater on the initiative of the Ministry of Defense, with the participation of the STD, announced the start of the All-Russian Theater Festival “23 Days until Victory”. In the period from April 16 to May 9, theatres of the country perform with plays and concerts about the Great Patriotic War.
The name of the festival was not chosen by chance, that is how long the Berlin Offensive Operation took place, one of the last strategic operations of Soviet troops, during which the Red Army occupied Berlin, which led to the unconditional surrender of Germany. The operation lasted 23 days - from April 16 to May 8, 1945.
The St. Petersburg Opera Theatre dedicates the concert to those who passed through the harsh years of the Great Patriotic War. In the midst of the total horror of the war, the soulful melodies of the songs saved, perhaps, more than one life for those who found themselves face to face with death. The song has become a symbol of a living word, and simply - life.
Young theater artists will perform songs of the war years and songs dedicated to the war, which, as a spiritual heritage are passed down from generation to generation.
