C. Cui "Puss in Boots"
Caesar Cui is the creator of the classic children's opera in Russia. His operas "The Snowman", "Little Red Riding Hood", "Ivan the Fool" and "Puss in Boots" at the beginning of the 20th century were very popular, although they were not staged at professional theatres. After the death of the author, all these works were forgotten for many years.
The St. Petersburg Opera Opera was the first in Russia to appeal to the children's musical heritage of the great Russian composer. In December 2017, the tale of the most famous Cat, staged by the People's Artist Yuri Alexandrov was revived. The performance received a new orchestration and a vivid stage design with modern video art. Concise and tireless, even for the smallest spectators, the performance included dance scenes performed by soloists and the theatre choir along with vocal numbers. It turned out that the work of Cui could inspire not only children but also adults. The charm of Charles Perrault's tale, music full of tenderness, wit and French grace - all this in the play "Puss in Boots".
