‘The Booted Cat’ takes awards

Our city hosted the 27th festival ‘Theatres of St. Petersburg – for kids’. The festival is held with the support of the Government of St. Petersburg, the Committee for Culture, St. Petersburg Theatre Union of the Russian Federation. The Chairman of the Organising Committee of the festival is People's Artist of Russia Sergei Migitsko.
This year, the prestigious Diploma has been given to the St. Petersburg Chamber Opera for making a new musical tale ‘The Booted Cat’ by Cesar Qui. Whereas Vladislav Mazankin, within the festival, is awarded for the best performance for playing the Cat character.
The premiere performance of the People’s Artist of Russia Yuri Alexandrov has taken place this season on the eve of the Christmas holidays, having drawn attention of both, children and their parents. During three last months, the theatre has staged 25 productions! And all with a full house.
Yuri Alexandrov’s co-creators of the performance are: People’s Artist of Russia Vyacheslav Okunev (theatre designer), Robert Luter (conductor), Maria Gergel (choir master), Olga Mitekina (accompanist in duty), Maria Chernysheva (concertmaster), Irina Sharonova (ballet master), Viktoria Zlotnikova (video art), Daria Modzalevskaya (director) and, of course, the singers, choir and orchestra of the State Music Theatre ‘St. Petersburg Chamber Opera’.
The singers of the ‘Blue Bird’ music drama theatre will take part in the performance. Young artists are quite familiar with this stage. They are involved in many productions of the St. Petersburg Chamber Opera, e.g. ‘Cavalleria rusticana’, ‘Tosca’, ‘Crimea’, etc.
