Opera laughs. Festival of Yuri Alexandrov performances


Yuri Alexandrov is known in Russia and abroad, as a director who breaks stereotypes creating urgent present-day bright and deep performances But, aparr from opera dramas, Alexandrov often turns to the genre of comic opera and operetta. 

In the New Year's Eve, the time of jokes, joy and Christmas carnival, The St. Petersburg Chamber Opera presents Opera laughs, a Festival of Yuri Alexandrov performances. 
The Festival includes operetta Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss (December 28 and 29), as well as the theatre’s recent sensational premieres, comic operas by great Italian composers L’elisir d’amore by Gaetano Donizetti (December 25), and Il barbiere di Siviglia by Gioachino Rossini (December 30). 
The Festival opens with the premiere of the romantic opera Les cloches de Corneville by Robert Planquette (December 23 & 24).
