Opening the 30th anniversary season of The St. Petersburg Chamber Opera, the theatre’s artistic director Yuri Alexandrov shared his plans at a news conference.
The coming season is the anniversary one, which makes it so special for us. We are 30 years old. These 30 years have been full of work, new premieres, tours and search for our own premises that we finally found in the luxurious mansion of Baron von Derviz, where the theatre is located today.
The new season will be marked by French music. We will show a new production of Les cloches de Corneville by Robert Planquette, a romantic operetta about beautiful and noble people with the mysterious ghost scenes and a beautiful ending. The season will be closed with Faust by Charles Gounod.
Also in the new season we will start staging October, an opera by Vano Muradeli written in the socialist realism era. The world is fascinated by this trend today. Some remarkable works, which are now unjustly forgotten, were created at that time.
We tour a lot, as well. We hope to have a successful tour season and to meet the new audience."
The press conference was closed with a mini concert with the participation Victoria Martemyanova, who recently joined the company, alongside the renowned soloists, winners of international competitions and this year’s nominees of the Golden Spotlight award Olesya Gordeeva and Alexey Pashiev.
The piano part was performed by Irina Teplyakova.
