On February 23 The St. Petersburg Chamber Opera performed its third premiere of the season, an opera diptych “To remember” (“The Young Guard” by Julius Meytus and “Crimea” by Marian Koval). The Director of the performance is People's Artist of Russia Yuri Alexandrov.
"The play concentrates on love, above all, love. The war is on the sidelines in our performance. We are making a lyrical play about young people, their sacrifice and living for the sake of their ideals.
Our “The Young Guard” closes the cycle of two performances, which we began to conceive a long time ago. One of the missions of a theatre is to talk about what is happening today. And we are bound to respond to it. This is a responding performance, a retort thrown into the audience that requires a response. It was the case with “Crimea”, our opera-rally and it is also the case with the second part of a diptych, “The Young Guard”.
