Summary of our May playbill


Our May playbill opens with “Il barbiere di Siviglia”, the comic opera by Gioachino Rossini, staged by Yuri Alexandrov, which was premiered by The St. Petersburg Chamber Opera this March. The performances on May 1 and 9 will become the perfect extension of the national holidays for the audience. 

The theatre also prepared a number of concerts for the 175th anniversary of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. On May 7 and 11 we will present a Gala Concert, and on May 8 we will feature the romance songs by the composer. 
The Russian opera classics will be presented in the theater with “Eugene Onegin” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (May 13 and 30) and “Boris Godunov” by Modest Mussorgsky (May 20). 
The world opera classics will be presented in May with “Lucia di Lammermoor” on May 15, “I Pagliacci” on May 17, “Don Giovanni” on May 22, “La traviata” on May 24 and “La boheme” on May 27. 
A number of concert programmes will be devoted to prominent classical composers. These include Gala Donizetti on May 2, Viva Puccini! on May 29 and Gala Verdi on 31 May. 
The theatre continues its Operetta on opera stage series with “La belle Hélène” on May 3 and “Die Fledermaus” on May 10. Brilliant operetta music will also be performed in two concerts: Vienna melodies on May 4 and Viva Strauss! on May 16. 
You are welcome to attend the original Palace extravaganza concert on May 23. We offer a relaxed atmosphere of dialogue with the artists, a walking tour through the magnificent halls, including Moorish and Maple lounges and the Winter garden, designed as a grotto, as well as photo and autograph session and a surprise intermission! 
The crystal sound of the Magic Harp, children's concert on May 17. The concert program will tell the young audience about a harp, one of the oldest musical instruments, that, being more beautiful in appearance than any other instrument in the orchestra, fascinates us with its iridescent "crystal" sound. The tour, which is to take place during the intermission, will give the guests a chance to discover mysteries and legends of Baron von Derviz mansion of, where the St. Petersburg Chamber Opera is located, as well as to learn more about the theatre history associated with this palace. 
All concerts and performances start at 7pm. 
The children's concert on May 17 starts at 2 pm.
