The St. Petersburg Opera concludes the 35th anniversary season on July 31, at 19:00, with the opera by P. Tchaikovsky Eugene Onegin.
The experience of interpreting the famous opera, which is part of the golden fund of Russian classics, turned into an unconventional director's decision in the performance. “We are showing not an opera by Tchaikovsky, but our attitude towards Tchaikovsky and Pushkin,” said Yuri Alexandrov, artistic director and founder of the theatre. In Eugene Onegin the shift in semantic and temporal accents makes it possible to look at the opera characters a little aloof, in the context of the style of Chekhov's rather than Pushkin's theatre.

The St. Petersburg Opera will open the 36th season with the same performance on September 16, at 19:00. This choice is a tribute to the memory of Alexander Pushkin. In 2022, 185 years have passed since the death of the great Russian poet.
On August 01, we begin the ticket sales for the new season.
